The definition of “vintage” varies, but is usually associated with the quality of aging, enduring interest or improving over time.
In the 19th century, objects other than wine, began to be referred to as “vintage” such as cars, books, furniture, clothing and musical instruments. With regard to antiques, vintage” refers to the period from 1830 to 1930 whereas with cars a vintage car is one made between 1919 and 1930.
To me, “vintage” conjures up a picture of a preloved item that can be recycled and loved once more. Beautiful old linen, patina of timber worn smooth with age. Lovely old metal objects that improve with time. I hope others can appreciate and enjoy my treasures.
